Ireland – Road transport services – Award of Public Bus Services Contract to Bus Eireann

Bus Éireann has been awarded a contract to operate public passenger transport services under a public service obligation (PSO). This contract is a direct award public service contract entered into by the National Transport Authority for the provision of certain public bus services in Carlow, Kilkenny and Waterford. The contract imposes public service obligations to ensure the continued provision of public passenger transport services in accordance with the Authority’s statutory functions. The contract is intended as a short-term arrangement, with an initial duration of six (6) months, and may be extended in accordance with the contract provisions for a further period of up to six (6) months. The compensation mechanism for the contract is in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 1370/2007
