Description

Removal and replacement of the existing stairs from ground to first floor and new partitions enclosing the new stairs, a WC compartment and some storage space. Alterations include moving existing double doors to form a new lobby, a new glass door in the east wall and some minor alterations to the first floor. Repairs to sources of water ingress (provisional). Services will include electrical - additional lighting, heater, water heater, extract fan; water services and drainage outfall from new WC to adjoining school system. The cathedral is a protected structure on the Record of Protected Structures of the Waterford City and County Development Plan. It is also listed as a National Monument in the Record of Monuments and Places. It is rated as a building of national importance. Because it is a building of national importance and a protected structure, the contractors submitting tenders must have a suitable level of experience in conservation work.
