Ireland – Radioactive-, toxic-, medical- and hazardous waste services – Removal and repatriation / return / recycling of one Cs-137 High Activity Sealed Source

Maynooth University has an immediate requirement for removal and repatriation / return / recycling of one Cs-137 High Activity Sealed Source (HASS) within a Gamma cell 1000 irradiator. This unit is no longer required. Maynooth University requires that this source is removed in a safe manner compliant with the control measures outlined in a Method Statement provided by the successful candidate and also compliant with the relevant requirements of the Irish Environmental Protection Agency, IATA, ADR and IMDG. The certified activity of this source was 597 Ci (22.089 TBq) in 1986. The estimated activity in September 2024 is 248 Ci (9.190 TBq)
